Ella Langley recently honored her former high-school teacher with a signed guitar. Langley reunited with Maury Popwell during one of her shows at Auburn University. Popwell taught at Hooper Academy in Alabama for more than 20 years. He and Langley used to play music together on Friday mornings. The guitar was signed, “Love you, Coach Pop!!

Garth Brooks and Trisha Yearwood are making September 25 an annual “Dolly Day” at their Nashville bar to support children’s literacy. Their Friends in Low Places Bar & Honky-Tonk will donate its entire income that day to Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library. The date is a reference to Parton’s “9 to 5.”
