There was a surprise duet at last night’s CMAs…

November 10, 2022

Last night’s CMA Awards on WCJB-TV20 had a few double winners: Luke Combs won Entertainer of the Year and Album of the Year for Growin’ Up, and Lainey Wilson won Female Vocalist of the Year and New Artist of the Year.  Cody Johnson had a great night, too, winning Single of the Year and Music Video of the Year for “Til You Can’t.”

The show opened with a throwback video of Loretta Lynn winning Entertainer of the Year in 1972 that led into a tribute to the late Coal Miner’s Daughter featuring Carrie Underwood, Miranda Lambert, and Reba.  Carly Pearce also teamed up with bluegrass greats Ricky Skaggs and Sonya Isaacs for Carly’s song, “Dear Miss Loretta.”

Luke Bryan had a good time with Peyton Manning who busted on him.   “I’m such a big fan of you, Luke,” Peyton says.  “Thanks, Peyton,” Luke replies.  “Do you mind,” Peyton tells him.  “I was talking to Luke Combs.”

There was a surprise duet at last night’s CMAs… Jo Dee Messina joined Cole Swindell for “She Had Me at Heads Carolina.”
