Last night was huge for one country queen. Lainey Wilson won both Entertainer of the Year and Female Artist of the Year at the ACM Awards. She also picked up Music Event of the Year for her duet with Jelly Roll on his song, “Save Me.” Chris Stapleton took the Male Artist of the Year and Album of the Year Awards. Single went to Luke Combs. Duo of the Year was, once again, Dan + Shay with Old Dominion picking up Group of the Year.
Jordan Davis will be able to display his Sing of the Year award for “Next Thing You Know” as soon as you walk in his front door. He was hoping he’d pick up the award since he’d already picked the perfect spot for it.
Highlights included Jelly Roll’s performance of his new song, “Liar,” as well as Jason Aldean’s tribute to the late Toby Keith with “Should’ve Been a Cowboy.” Post Malone surprised some with his true-to-country song “Never Love You Again.” And the duets were heavy, too, with Blake and Gwen, Chris Stapleton and Dua Lipa, and Nate Smith and Avril Lavigne.
The new male artist of the year tells us how he got his start… Nate Smith talks about his influences.
