Kenny Chesney says he connected to the song “Knowing You” because the lyrics celebrate having a piece of time together in one’s life, something to which he relates. “In the islands, we had such a close group of friends that I don’t really see that much anymore. We experienced so much life together in such a short time and I miss them,” he says. “You know, some of them had kids, some left the island, some have moved on in different areas of their life, but I felt really alive with that group of friends. Man, it was great knowing them.”
