Ashley McBryde opens for George Strait at Rodeo Houston this Sunday. She tells us it’s been a busy year, so far. “2022 took off. We haven’t had any breaks yet, and I don’t see any breaks in sight,” she tells us. “Breaks aren’t really happening, but it’s a nice kind of busy, you know. It’s a great way, I mean, there are worse ways to spend your lifetime.”
Cody Johnson says that songs are like a pair of boots: You don’t want to wear a pair of boots that doesn’t fit you because that’s how you get sore feet, and you don’t walk the same. That’s why he only chooses songs that feel like a comfortable pair of boots to him.
Maren Morris says she and her husband, Ryan Hurd, have been wearing fake glasses to inspire their son, Hayes, to keep his on. She says she feels awful for passing her bad eyesight on to him. Hayes is 23 months old and, by the way, looks adorbs in his specs.
She declined a very large honor… Dolly Parton! She was nominated last month, along with 16 other acts, for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, but she declined the honor yesterday saying in a social post that she didn’t feel she had earned that right and didn’t want to split votes.
