Rubbin Elbows-Chad Brock

93.7 K COUNTRY

We’ve had three Country singers that I know of that had connections to our radio station. Michael Ray grew up listening to us in Eustis, Easton Corbin in rural Gilchrist County/Trenton and one that graduated from Ocala Forest High School in 1981 (Same year as me) Chad Brock! Chad played football in High School and could have played in College with a scholarship, But being in the High School Choir (Again like me) convinced him to move to Nashville and pursue his dream of being a country singer. He signed up with Warner Brothers Records in 1994 and in 1999 released his first album. And in 2000 he had his first # 1 with “Yes!”.

Being that we graduated the same year in High School and had things in common we have struck up a friendship over the years and our paths cross from time to time when he is back in the Ocala area to visit family and friends. He was recently with me at the Orange Blossom Opry in Weirsdale in support of his friend Andy Griggs who was a part of our All-Star Summer Concert series.  Chad now resides in Columbia, South Carolina with his wife Traci.
