Afternoon and evening storms could bring heavy rain, gusty winds, and dangerous lightning, especially in rural and open areas.

As the National Weather Service wraps up National Lightning Safety Awareness Week, remember: “When Thunder Roars, Go Indoors!” There is no safe place outside during a thunderstorm. If you hear thunder, you’re within striking distance. Seek shelter in a sturdy building or hard-topped vehicle and stay indoors for at least 30 minutes after the last thunderclap.
