GAINESVILLE, FL (352today.com) – UPDATE, 1/24/24: Santa Fe College says water tests following water main break repairs came back clear of hazardous contaminants. Just after 11 a.m. on January 24, the school updated students and staff saying water usage across the Northwest Campus was safe to consume.
PREVIOUSLY, 1/23/24: Fill your water bottle before you head to Santa Fe College’s Northwest Campus today, Tuesday, Jan. 23.
The college says the campus is open but currently under a boil water notice due to a water main leak. That means water on the Northwest campus should not be consumed until further notice.
A release posted on the school’s website says signs are being posted on all water fountains indicating that the water should not be ingested until the college receives clearance from the health department.
Santa Fe says the Little School will be closed Tuesday, as will the Food Court which includes Subway and La Fortuna, as well as Coffee 101 in the Lawrence W. Tyree Library.
School officials evacuated the campus Monday evening at 7 p.m. so crews could shut off the water supply in order to do the repair work.
The college says crews remain on site addressing the issue, but water pressure has been restored to the campus in time for Tuesday’s classes.
