Warrants, drugs and $165K burglary part of recent Marion County arrests

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Sheriff’s Office deputies made several arrests in recent days in connection with outstanding warrants, drug possession, burglary and fleeing from law enforcement, according to officials.

Deputy Stringer responded to the Walmart in Silver Springs Shores after receiving information that a wanted individual was at the store. The deputy made contact with Hough Boswell III, who was wanted for tampering with an electronic monitoring device. Officials said Boswell initially gave a false name before attempting to enter his vehicle and start it. Stringer removed Boswell from the vehicle and arrested him on the warrant. A search revealed that he was in possession of cocaine and drug paraphernalia.

In a separate case, Corporal Kinsey went to the Silver River Inn on East Silver Springs Boulevard to conduct a warrant check. She located Jose Ventura, who had three active warrants for aggravated assault, domestic battery and felony battery. Ventura was arrested without incident and taken to the Marion County Jail.

Later, Deputy Cetin attempted to conduct a traffic stop in the 9900 block of Highway 42. The driver, identified as Zachary Briggs, refused to stop and fled from deputies. After a short pursuit, Briggs stopped at a residence, where he was taken into custody. Investigators discovered that Briggs’ license was suspended and that he was in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.

Deputies were also called to a disturbance on Emerald Run. Authorities said Tommy McDonald had returned to the location despite having been trespassed from the property on May 23. McDonald was arrested and transported to the jail. While in custody, deputies found a baggie of methamphetamine concealed in his clothing. He was additionally charged with introduction of contraband into a detention facility.

Corporal Lopez also responded to a reported residential burglary on Southwest 98th Lane. The victim told deputies that sometime over the past two months, someone broke into the home and stole a large quantity of firearms. The following day, Lopez returned to the same residence after a report of a second burglary. The victim said additional weapons, display cases and a wooden boat propeller had been taken. The total loss is estimated at $165,000. Property Crimes detectives are continuing the investigation.
