MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) released footage from an arrest involving a 14-year-old who they say held a man at gunpoint before stealing his car.
Deputies were originally flagged down by a man at the Circle K located in the 7000 block of NE Jacksonville Road.
The man informed deputies he was walking back to his car when a teen came from behind a gas pump.

The sheriff’s office says the teen pointed a gun at the man’s chest and demanded the car keys.
The man told deputies he threw the keys into the driver’s seat of his 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe and walked away.
The victim said the teen took off eastbound on Highway 326.
Deputies began a perimeter search and say they located the stolen vehicle ten minutes later near the 5400 block of SE 28th Lane.
The deputy pulled the vehicle over and the traffic stop was recorded on the deputy’s bodycam and posted on the department’s Facebook page.
You can hear the teen tell the deputy there was a gun in the car as the deputy slapped handcuffs on him.
As he was being put in the back of the patrol car, the deputy asks him his age and he responds that he is 14. We’re not identifying the juvenile due to his age.
MCSO says the deputy searched the car and found the firearm in the cupholder of the vehicle.
The victim’s description of the firearm matched, and he identified the teen as the person who “threatened him.”
Deputies say during questioning, the teen admitted to the carjacking, “smiled frequently, and did not appear to have remorse for his actions.”
The sheriff’s office says the teen was already on felony probation for crimes including:
- Grand theft of a motor vehicle
- Battery on a law enforcement officer
- Felony criminal mischief
- Disrupting school functions
His new charges include:
- Carjacking with a firearm
- Possession of a firearm by a person younger than 18
- Improper exhibition of a firearm
He’s in the custody of the Department of Juvenile Justice.
