Temporary closure of U.S. 301 in Wildwood could impact travel plans this week

WILDWOOD, FL (352today.com) – Drivers traveling through Wildwood this week will need to detour around a busy stretch of U.S. 301 as the Florida Department of Transportation temporarily shuts down a section of the road for railroad crossing repairs.

Beginning at 8 a.m. Tuesday, May 13, South Main Street (U.S. 301) will be closed near Switcher Street while crews remove railroad tracks and repave the roadway. The closure is expected to last through noon Friday, May 16, weather permitting.

Detour routes will be clearly marked:

  • Southbound: Turn left on Huey Street, then right onto C.R. 44A, right on Powell Road, then right onto East S.R. 44 to return to U.S. 301.
  • Northbound: Turn right on East S.R. 44, left on Powell Road, left on C.R. 44A, then left on Huey Street to reconnect with U.S. 301.
