OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A 72-year-old Ocala man was killed Oct. 27, when the vehicle he was driving became stuck on a train track, and his SUV was struck by an oncoming train.
The vehicle had initially been traveling west on SR 326 with the train traveling southbound and approaching the intersection of SR 326, according to the Florida Highway Patrol. It has not been ascertained, but for unknown reasons the SUV turned north and became stuck on the train tracks. The southbound train struck the left front section of the vehicle.
The driver of the SUV was pronounced dead upon arrival at the hospital. The train conductor and passenger on the train didn’t sustain any injuries as a result of the incident.
