Ocala City Council to Vote on Grant for Ocala International Airport

OCALA, FL (352today.com) – A resolution to accept a Florida Department of Transportation grant for a Federal Aviation Administration grant match for the Ocala International Airport’s apron rehabilitation project will be considered at the Ocala City Council meeting on Nov. 4, 2025.

Also on the agenda, under general business, will be a budget resolution to amend the fiscal year 2025/206 budget to appropriate grant funding from the FDOT for the construction of the rehabilitation of the terminal apron in the amount of $112,206.

The estimated total cost of the project is $2,805,148. The Florida Department of Transportation agrees to participate in the project cost up to the maximum amount of $112,206. The department’s participation on the project shouldn’t exceed 4 percent of the eligible cost of the project.

The project description designates the area of the apron to be rehabilitated at approximately 517 feet by 272 feet, or 15,567 square yards. It is located on the east side of the airport near the terminal building. The existing bituminous concrete surface will be milled and resurfaced.

The project location is the Ocala International Airport, Jim Taylor Field.

The project scope is the apron rehabilitation: As required by 215.971, Florida Statute, this scope of work includes but is not limited to consultant and design fees, survey and geotechnical costs, permitting, construction inspection and material testing costs, mobilization and demobilization, maintenance of traffic, erosion control, demolition, pavement enhancement or reconstruction, such as concrete, asphalt, rejuvenators, or sealants, joint construction, pavement markings, drainage, and utilities, including all materials, equipment, labor, and incidentals required to rehabilitate or reconstruct the apron pavement.

The specifics of the project scope for construction are described in and limited by the project construction plans identified as the Terminal Apron Rehabilitation at Ocala International Airport, prepared by Infrastructure Consulting & Engineering, dated March 2025, together with all plan updates, necessary design variation, exceptions, and change orders approved by the Agency.

The term of the agreement should start upon full execution of both parties and continue through June 1, 2027.
