Motorcyclist Killed in Collision with Pickup Truck on SR 40 in Marion County

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A motorcyclist was killed at the scene of a collision with a pickup truck on State Road 40 on the evening of Saturday, April 4, 2026, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol.

The report states that a pickup was traveling westbound on SR 40 at around 7:40 p.m. when a motorcycle approached from the rear traveling at a high rate of speed. The motorcycle clipped the right side of the truck, possibly while attempting to pass, and the 34-year-old cyclist was thrown from the bike.

The cyclist was pronounced dead at the scene of the accident. The 17-year-old driver of the pickup, its sole occupant, was transported to the hospital for evaluation.

At press time, this incident remains under investigation.
