MCSO says a 44-year-old man died after being shot in NW Ocala

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Marion County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) says a man has died from gunshot wound-related injuries following a shooting on Tuesday night.

MCSO says 44-year-old Tony Lee Diamond was involved in a shooting located at the 4900 block of NW 56th Terrace in Ocala.

Deputies say they responded to the shooting around 4:56 p.m. on Tuesday.

They say they located a man, later identified as Diamond, suffering from a gunshot wound when they arrived. Deputies immediately provided Diamond with medical care before transporting him to the hospital.

The hospital listed Diamond in critical condition when he arrived. MCSO says Diamond died at around 10:30 p.m. that same night.

The department says the investigation has been passed to the Major Crimes Unit.

No information is known about the shooter’s identity, but MCSO confirms that they are in custody.
