MARION COUNTY (352today.com) – Marion Technical College (MTC) is expanding and will be home to a massive new educational facility with a $5.57 million price tag.
Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) announced Tuesday that the school will break ground on the new facility this Friday, Sept. 8, at 2 p.m. Construction is expected to be completed in September of 2025.
According to MCPS, the college received funding from the Florida Legislature to develop new automotive, diesel, and aviation mechanic programs.
MTC is located at 1014 SW 7 Road in Ocala. The new facility will be built on the southeast corner of campus. The design features 16,000 square feet of educational and workspace; as well as an additional 15,000 square feet for parking, according to the school district.
The district says this will allow up to 100 dual-enrolled high school and adult students to be trained for jobs as automotive service technicians, automotive collision refinishing technicians, aviation powerplant/airframe mechanics, and diesel systems technicians.
“With Marion County quickly advancing its reputation as a logistics and distribution hub and home to the Ocala International Airport, MTC’s expansion programs will help meet the expanding demand for these careers and keep graduates local to the Ocala/Marion County community,” MCPS said in a release.
