OCALA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County School Board members have selected Dr. Danielle Brewer to serve as interim superintendent of Marion County Public Schools, effective July 12, 2025.
Dr. Brewer is currently the district’s senior executive director of High Schools and Secondary Curriculum, and earned the highest interview scores from board members, making her the top choice for the role.
Dr. Brewer has been with MCPS since 2005, starting as a teacher before moving into school and district leadership positions. She holds multiple degrees in education and leadership, including a Doctor of Education from National Louis University.

She will work alongside current Superintendent Dr. Diane Gullett during a transition period before taking over the role. Dr. Gullett, the district’s first appointed superintendent, is leaving to join a national education consulting firm after her final day on July 11.
The Board will negotiate Dr. Brewer’s contract in the coming days, with a formal vote expected at a special meeting on April 29 at 5:30 p.m.
Other finalists for the interim position included both internal and external candidates from Florida and beyond.
