Marion County high school graduations mark the beginning of new journeys

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – It’s time to pick up a portable cell phone charger to make sure you don’t miss a single moment as your child arrives at another one of life’s milestones: high school graduation.

Marion County Public Schools (MCPS) says it anticipates nearly 3,000 seniors walking across the stage in May and June as they become graduates of the Class of 2024.

This year’s high school graduation schedule, provided by MCPS, is as follows:

  • May 22 – Vanguard High, 6 p.m., Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, Ocala
  • May 23 – Hillcrest School, 11 a.m., Hillcrest Gymnasium, Ocala
  • May 23 – North Marion High, 6 p.m., Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, Ocala
  • May 24 – Dunnellon High, 6 p.m., World Equestrian Center, Ocala
  • May 24 – Lake Weir High, 6 p.m., Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, Ocala
  • May 25 – Belleview High, 8 a.m., Belleview High Stadium, Belleview
  • May 25 – Forest High, 8 a.m., World Equestrian Center, Ocala
  • May 28 – West Port High, 8 a.m., World Equestrian Center, Ocala
  • June 13 – Marion Technical College, 6 p.m., Brown Greaton-Cole Auditorium at Marion Technical Institute, Ocala

Cox is sponsoring honor cords for the graduating Class of 2024. MCPS says this marks the sixth consecutive year that they have supported this initiative.

High schools have also scheduled optional baccalaureate services based on the following schedule:

  • May 9 – Belleview High, 6 p.m., Everyday Church (6419 SE 107 St., Belleview)
  • May 16 – Dunnellon High, 6 p.m., First Baptist Church (20831 Powell Rd., Dunnellon)
  • May 20 – Lake Weir High, 6 p.m., Wings of Faith Fellowship (5066 SE 64 Ave. Rd., Ocala)
  • May 20 – Vanguard High, 6 p.m., First Assembly of God (1827 NE 14 St., Ocala)
  • May 21 – North Marion High, 6:30 p.m., Oak-Griner Baptist Church (6422 NE Jacksonville Rd., Ocala)
  • May 21 – Forest High, 7 p.m., First Baptist Church (2801 SE Maricamp Rd., Ocala)
  • May 22 – West Port High, 6 p.m., WPHS Performing Arts Center (3733 SW 80 Ave., Ocala)
