Leadership changes coming to Marion County schools for 2025-26 school year

MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Public Schools Interim Superintendent Dr. Danielle Brewer announces the following administrative and principal changes effective July 1, 2025, pending School Board approval:

  • Belleview Middle – Ashley Kemp becomes principal, moving from the district level as a principal on assignment at Oakcrest Elementary.
  • College Park Elementary – Dr. Stacey Varner becomes principal, moving from the Grants and Federal Programs Department. She replaces Teresa Forsyth, who retired after 31 years with MCPS.
  • East Marion Elementary – A new principal will be announced at a later date.
  • Forest High – Current Principal Lamar Rembert moves to become Area Superintendent, Region 1 at the district level. He will be replaced by Dr. Dion Gary, current principal at Belleview Middle.
  • Harbour View Elementary – Current Principal Stacy Houston is voluntarily moving to a reading coach position at another school. Her replacement will be announced at a later date.
  • Lake Weir High – Current Principal Ken McAteer moves to New High School “CCC” as principal. He will be replaced by Jason Jacobs, current principal at Lake Weir Middle.
  • Lake Weir Middle – A new principal will be announced at a later date.
  • Oakcrest Elementary – Sarah Dobbs returns to become principal, moving from the same capacity at East Marion Elementary.

As a reminder, the following schools will open in August with principals previously announced:

  • Ross Prairie Elementary – Principal LeAnn McEarchern
  • Winding Oaks Elementary – Principal Traci Crawford
