Lady Lake police arrest two 15-year-olds in connection with rash of recent car burglaries

LADY LAKE, FL (352today.com) – The Lady Lake Police Department (LLPD) has arrested two juveniles who are believed to be connected to more than two dozen car burglaries in the Water Oak community.

LLPD responded to a call around 1 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 23, after the caller said two suspicious males were hanging around a carport.

Officers say the caller provided them with security camera video which proved to be “instrumental” in the investigation.

LLPD says that night officers came across two juveniles matching the description of the people captured on video.

Officers say the two teens were in “possession of evidence” that connected them to crimes that been committed that night.

They charged the teens with 25 previous incidents. The list of charges includes:

  • Multiple counts of burglary to a conveyance

  • Possession of burglary tools

  • Resisting arrest without violence

  • Grand Theft Auto (three counts)

The teens were taken to the Lake County Jail, where they were released to their parents with notices to appear in court and with court-ordered restrictions.

LLPD says anyone who believes they were a victim of a car burglary them at (352) 751-1565. Anyone with potentially helpful security camera footage is also urged to contact LLPD, as well.

Regardless of where you live, officers say the best way to protect yourself is to:

  • Keep outside lights on
  • Remove keys and valuables from your vehicle
  • Lock your car doors to prevent burglaries
