LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – An Inglis man is in custody and has been charged with homicide in the shooting death of a man in Levy County.
The Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) says a man called 911 on Monday when he heard gunshots outside of his home. When he walked outside, he found a man in his driveway with a gunshot wound.
Emergency crews responded to the scene and administered medical assistance but could not save the person.
Witnesses told authorities that they had heard a motorcycle leaving the area after the shooting.
Law enforcement began their investigation and identified 30-year-old Brandon Capozzi as a person of interest.
LCSO deputies along with officers from the Williston Police Department found Capozzi in the McDonald’s parking lot in Williston and arrested him there. They booked him into the Levy County jail on Wednesday morning just after 1 a.m. He’s being held without bond.
The sheriff’s office says witness statements, physical evidence found at the scene, along with statements made by Capozzi, have helped them determine a motive for the shooting.
