BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – The look of success can go a long way.
It’s about having the available resources so you can perform at your best, a sense of pride, professionalism, and having that extra edge that boosts self-confidence and self-esteem. That’s difficult to do when you don’t have the means.
Belleview High School (BHS) boys’ basketball varsity coach Jeffrey Hamilton is starting his second year with the team. When BHS Principal Heather Guest and then-athletic director Phillip Small offered him the position two years ago, they were clear about the program’s challenges, including limited funding for basketball.
“It was kind of a total rebuild,” says Hamilton, who spent over 30 years coaching basketball and baseball in North Carolina and also served as an assistant football coach. “I’m down here on a workcation. I wanted to go somewhere different, I’m still working and I’m enjoying working in a new area. We’re in our second year. We’ve improved and have our program going in the right direction.”
The Rattlers, as they’re known, are holding a fundraiser so that they can buy new road basketball uniforms. The Belleview High Boys’ Basketball Golf Scramble Fundraiser is scheduled for Nov. 16, 2024, at Eagle Ridge Golf Club and has three levels of sponsorship.
“They’re a good group of kids,” says Hamilton. “They do well academically. They behave in school. They work really hard, and hard on the court. They want to look good when they play.”
The “Three-Pointer Corporate Sponsorship” for $750 offers a team of four in the golf scramble, a year-long banner in the BHS gymnasium, a sponsorship for one hole, a flyer recognizing sponsors in every goody bag, and a printed invitation from the sponsor for participants to visit their business.
The “Slam Dunk Corporate Sponsorship” for $500 includes a foursome team in the golf scramble, a one-hole sponsorship, sponsorship recognition flyer of the sponsor’s choosing in every goody bag, and a printed invitation provided by the sponsor for participants to patronize their business.
The “Lay-Up Hole Sponsorship” for $100 offers hole sponsor recognition, a sign on the sponsored hole, a sponsorship recognition flyer in every goody bag, and a printed invitation for participants to patronize their business.
If you want to be a sponsor and prefer to pay by cash or check, please send your payment to P.O. Box 1776, Ocala, FL 34478. Make checks out to the Belleview High Booster Club, which is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. If paying by credit card, call (352) 895-4693.
Sponsors should send their logo to allisoncampbell04@gmail.com by Oct. 21.
Coffee and registration are at 7 a.m. on Nov. 16 with a shotgun start scheduled for 8 a.m. at Eagle Ridge Golf Club Summerfield.
All proceeds will benefit the BHS boys’ varsity basketball team. Prizes will be awarded for the top three teams with hole prizes including the longest drive and closest to the pin. Lunch will be served after the round as teams finish.
