Firefighters contain Belleview structure fire that spread to nearby woods

BELLEVIEW, FL (352today.com) – A fast-moving structure fire broke out Thursday evening near 5800 SE 127th Lane in Belleview, prompting a large response from Marion County Fire Rescue.

The call came in just before 8 p.m., with the first crews from Belleview Station #18 arriving to find heavy flames and thick smoke pouring from a storage building. The fire had already begun spreading into nearby woods, raising concerns of further damage.

The structure, filled with construction materials, posed several risks to firefighters. As the flames intensified, parts of the concrete block walls began to collapse. Crews quickly set up a water sector to help control the blaze while working to protect the surrounding area.

By 8:52 p.m., the fire was officially under control, though firefighters remained on scene to fully extinguish hotspots. Thankfully, no injuries were reported.

A total of 38 firefighters and nine fire units were involved in the operation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
