MARION COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – This fall season has plenty of family-friendly events for adults and children to enjoy. From winding corn mazes to lively harvest celebrations, here are some of the most colorful fall gatherings this spooky season that families can enjoy with activities to keep everyone entertained.
1. Newberry Cornfield Maze
Newberry Farms hosts Newberry Cornfield Maze where family-friendly fun and laughs take over the day and screams fill the evening air. Kids can take part in Hayrides, hamster balls and a bull ride before the spooky events begin.
This event takes place on Fridays and Saturdays from Sept. 19 to Oct. 25 from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. at Newberry Cornfield Maze, 20015 W Newberry Rd., Newberry, FL 32669. Online tickets are $29.05 for ages 11 and up and $18.85 for ages 10 and under. Hayrides, hamster balls, bull ride and haunted house attraction tickets can only be purchased at the event in cash.
2. Falltoberfest
Circle Square Commons is hosting Falltoberfest with family-friendly activities to get into the Fall mood. This event will feature live entertainment, dancing, food trucks, axe throwing, pumpkin patches and more for a colorful, harvest-themed start to the season. Perfect for kids and parents looking for light-hearted fun in Fall.
This event takes place on Saturday, Sept. 27 from 5 to 9 p.m. at The Town Square at Circle Square Commons, 8405 SW 80th St., Ocala, FL 34481. Admission is free with vendors and kiosks with purchasable food and items.
3. Peanut Patch & Corn Maze Halloween Festival
Peanut Patch & Corn Maze is hosting a family-friendly haunted festival for the Halloween season featuring zombies, ghouls, mazes and more. A haunted night maze, haunted house, haunted hayrides, a kids play area and more will make this night a spectacular show of spooks perfect for kids and family fun.
This event takes place every Friday and Saturday from Sept. 27 to Oct. 26. Fridays from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturdays from 3 to 11 p.m. at Peanut Patch & Corn Maze, 8656 SW 75th St., Gainesville, FL 32608. Tickets can be purchased online at $25 for ages 11 and up and $15 for ages 10 and under. They can also be purchased at the gate in cash only at $20 for ages 11 and up and $15 for ages 10 and under.
4. Marion County Parks and Recreations 7th Annual Carnival
Marion County Parks and Recreations is hosting their 7th annual fall carnival for family-friendly harvest-themed fun. Families can enjoy music, food trucks and other entertainment while children enjoy a kid zone, petting zoo, hayride, haunted stalls, inflatables and more to keep kids entertained while parents get in the fall mood.
This event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 4 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Southeastern Livestock Pavilion, 2232 NE Jacksonville Rd., Ocala, FL. Admission is free with youth activity armbands available for either $5 per child or 5 non-perishable donations for Bring the Harvest Home.
5. Phantoms in the Fort
The City of Ocala Recreation and Park Department and Marion County Public Library System are co-hosting Phantoms in the Fort, a spooky family-friendly event where Ocala Story Telling Guild members will be sharing spooky stories. Kid-friendly activities will take place from 5 to 7 p.m. before the storytelling begins with a short intermission after the lighter stories to give young children and the squeamish a chance to depart before getting into the more eerie tales. The event will feature Fort King Legends Trails where guests can choose their path on their way back to their cars. Guests are encouraged to dress up and bring refillable water bottles, bug repellant and blankets.
The event will take place on Saturday, Oct. 18 from 5 to 9 p.m. at the Fort King National Historic Landmark, 3529 E Fort King St., Ocala, FL 34470. Parking will be available at the Klein parking lot. Admission is free.
6. Hometown Halloween
Brownwood Paddock Square hosts Hometown Halloween, a family-friendly, two-day event where guests can enjoy themed events like Dance of the Zombies, Growl-O-Ween and Trunk-N-Treat for children ages 12 and under with two spooktacular haunted houses. Live entertainment will fill the square while guests purchase food and items from vendors, Kona Ice and a themed drink, Vampire Kiss.
This event takes place on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 23 and 24 from 3 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 26 from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and Sunday, Oct. 26 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Brownwood Paddock Square, 2705 W Torch Lake Dr., Wildwood, FL 32163. Admission is free with $20 wrist bands for unlimited access to carnival games and Paint-A-Pumpkin. Skee ball and haunted houses are not included in the wristband with skee-ball being $5 and one haunted house for $7 or both for $10.
