Duke Energy restores power to 95% of Florida Customers

NORTH CENTRAL FLORIDA (352today.com) – As the difficult recovery process from Hurricane Milton’s mayhem manifests, Duke Energy has an update regarding power outages.

In a release on Monday morning, the company says outages related to Hurricane Milton and Helene have decreased in North Central Florida from 1 million to approximately 105,000 as of 9 a.m. on Monday, Oct 14.

The company says they restored power for over 95% of customers in the following counties:

  • Brevard
  • Citrus
  • Hernando
  • Highlands
  • Lake
  • Marion
  • Orange
  • Osceola
  • Polk
  • Seminole
  • Sumter
  • Volusia

According to Duke Energy, the progress has them ahead of schedule, adding that the remaining Pinellas and Pasco counties’ power is estimated for restoration by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct 15.

“We recognize just how important timely power restoration is to our customers – not only so they can live their day-to-day lives, but also so they can begin the recovery process,” says Todd Fountain, Duke Energy Florida storm director. “While we’re proud of the significant progress we’ve made so far, we remain committed to accomplishing our goal of getting the lights back on for all customers who are capable of receiving power by the end of the day tomorrow.”

Duke Energy says customers who experienced “extensive” damage or flooding from the hurricanes may require added time for restoration, and homeowners should prepare for extended outages depending on the volume of their damages.
