CITRUS COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) is praising one of its K-9s for the capture of a wanted man.
CCSO says deputies received information on Friday that 41-year-old Nicholas Robert Soucek was at a residence on West Jarovi Court in Homosassa.
They say Soucek was wanted on an active Marion County warrant for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Deputies arrived at the residence and began searching for Soucek but were not able to find him.

After deputies left the property, they say they saw a suspicious man running from the woods back to the house.
This prompted deputies to return to the residence and continue their search.
When they arrived back, they say a CCSO deputy saw Soucek attempting to hide behind a shed at the rear of the property.
Deputies say they verbally directed Soucek to surrender.
Instead, they say he ran away, forcing them to chase him on foot.
CCSO says a deputy and his K-9 partner, Ike, cornered him on a neighboring property.
They say Soucek used a knife to try to keep the dog away.
That was unsuccessful and deputies were able to take Soucek into custody.
K-9 Ike was not injured in the process.
Soucek was arrested and, in addition to the Marion County warrant, Citrus County charged him with:
- Resisting Law Enforcement with Violence
- Aggravated Assault on a Law Enforcement Officer with a Deadly Weapon
Soucek is currently held without bond.
