LECANTO, FL (352today.com) – With the onset of Hurricane Season along the Nature Coast, Citrus County Floodplain Management announces the launch of a new hazard risk portal that will make it easier for residents, real estate and insurance professionals, developers and others to seamlessly access vital flood and hazard risk information.
In partnership with geospatial platform Forerunner, this portal also provides citizens with access to important documentation, including Elevation Certificates.
“As Hurricane Season approaches, it’s important that our residents are equipped with the knowledge and information they need to prepare for the flooding and weather events that are sure to come,” said Dawson Retter, CFM, Floodplain Administrator. “It’s a one-stop-shop for residents to understand their flood risk and access important documents, while also making it easier to connect directly with our team with questions or requests.”
Citrus County has approximately 36,000 properties located in the Special Hazard Flood Area. The introduction of this new resource is part of Citrus County’s ongoing efforts to revitalize and formalize floodplain management and build a more hazard-resilient community.
