CITRA, FL (352today.com) – Marion County Fire Rescue is set to celebrate the grand opening of the new Citra Fire Rescue Station on Monday, April 7 at 10 a.m. The station, located at 2189 NE 180th Lane, replaces the previous facility at the same address and aims to strengthen emergency response efforts for the growing Citra area.

Thanks to funding from the Penny Sales Tax and a generous land donation from the Citra Improvement Society, the project helps boost emergency services and support the growing needs of the community.

The new station features a spacious 4,386-square-foot bay to house emergency vehicles and equipment, along with 3,737 square feet of living space for firefighters on duty. It also includes a Safe Haven Baby Box, offering a safe and anonymous way for someone to surrender a newborn up to seven days old.

Fire Rescue leaders say the upgraded station will help improve response times and improve services for residents.
