Bronson man faces charges for deliberately hitting wife with car

LEVY COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – A man from Bronson is being charged with killing his wife after deputies say he ran her over in a car.

What happened

Levy County Sheriff’s Office (LCSO) deputies responded to a call about a woman found dead alongside a road on September 8.

LCSO says the victim was a 68-year-old woman who appeared to have injuries consistent with being run over by a vehicle.

Detectives responded to the scene and learned that the 911 caller was 61-year-old Shawn Orr. Orr was reportedly the victim’s husband.

Detectives learned through conversing with Orr that he and the victim had a history of violence between them. They say the violence escalated after Orr began regularly drinking.

Orr told detectives that he and the victim got into a fight on Friday evening because of his drinking. He said the victim left the home to stay with her family as a result.

LCSO says Orr did not attempt to find or call his wife on Saturday and instead “continued to drink.” Detectives say Orr did not try to find her until Sunday afternoon when he discovered her body beside the road.

LCSO says evidence located at the scene and the couple’s home suggests Orr intentionally ran the victim over on Friday evening.

Outcome

Deputies arrested Orr for manslaughter. He is currently held in the Levy County Detention Center with no bond.

LCSO says anyone with information that could aid this investigation is asked to call Detective Ryan Sullivan at 352-486-5111.
