ALACHUA COUNTY, FL (352today.com) – The first day of school didn’t get off to a great start for some Alachua County Public Schools (ACPS) students. The bus they were on collided with a pickup truck on the way to school.
The Florida Highway Patrol (FHP) says all seven students on the bus are fine.
Troopers say the accident happened around 8:30 a.m. on Monday as it was taking kids to A. Quinn Jones and Sidney Lanier Schools in Gainesville.
What happened
FHP says the accident occurred at the intersection of State Road 26 (SR 26) and County Road 241 (CR 241).
They say an Alachua County school bus was traveling northbound on CR 241 at the same time that a pickup truck was traveling westbound on SR 26.
FHP says the two vehicles collided when they entered the intersection at the same time.
